The Durham Arts Council is located in Downtown Durham, at the corner of Morris and Morgan Streets and directly behind the Carolina Theater and Marriott Hotel and across the street from the SouthBank building.

Directions

From Raleigh: Take I-40 West to Exit 279B, and take 147 North, the Durham Freeway. After approximately 5 miles, take Exit 12C, the Duke Street exit (one way, North). Go three blocks to Main Street and turn right. Go down Main Street to the second light and turn left. This is Morris Street. The Durham Arts Council is immediately on your right.

From Chapel Hill: Take 15-501 North to Exit 108B, and take 147 South, the Durham Freeway. Take Exit 13, Chapel Hill Street exit and turn left. Proceed down hill to downtown, go under a bridge, and Chapel Hill St will merge with Main Street. Veer right onto Main Street and turn left at the light. This is Morris Street. The Durham Arts Council is immediately on your right.

Parking: There is limited public parking available at and around the Durham Arts Council.

  • Manning Place parking lot beside the Durham Arts Council is free with a two-hour limit from 7:00am to 6:00pm. There are 3 handicapped parking spaces in the Manning Place parking lot.
  • Morris Street parking is free with a one-hour limit from 7:00am to 6:00pm. There is no ticketing in these free parking areas after 6:00pm.
  • Morgan Street parking is free with a 30-minute limit from 7:00am to 6:00pm. There is no ticketing in these free parking areas after 6:00pm.
  • Your best bet for parking is the city-owned parking deck on the corner of Morris and Morgan Streets called Durham Centre Parking Garage Civic/Arts Center Parking. There are entrances on both Morgan and Morris Streets. The deck is never closed. Here are some pricing details:
    • Weekdays till 8:00pm -- $.60 per hour or portion there-of. $5.80 daily maximum
    • Weekends and weekdays after 8:00pm -- $2.00
    • Use no bills larger than $5.00.
    • Payments may be made by cash, check, token, coupon, or pass card. Coupons and tokens are available through the deck supervisor. Call 560-4135 for more information.
